Blue jersey and top ten for Team LottoNL-Jumbo in Tour de Pologne
Despite the warm weather, Team LottoNL-Jumbo performed well in the fourth stage of the Tour de Pologne. Bert-Jan Lindemann attacked for the second consecutive day and took the blue jersey. The Italian Enrico Battaglin positioned himself up front in the sprint and finished eight.
Just like yesterday, Bert-Jan Lindeman made it to the breakaway in the longest stage of the Tour de Pologne. “I made a goal of the blue jersey, but I had already been in the breakaway yesterday, so it was pretty tough for me today”, Lindeman stated afterwards. “Fortunately, I felt well. Moreover, I won the first and the second intermediate sprint. After I had become second in the third sprint, I took position in the peloton again to save energy for the coming days. The gap was too small to compete for the victory.”
After the riders of the early breakaway had been caught, Team LottoNL-Jumbo remained offensive. “Martijn Keizer showed himself in the last few kilometres with a late attack. The stage, however, ended with a bunch sprint and Enrico Battaglin claimed a nice result. Furthermore, we’re glad that Floris De Tier survived the stage well after yesterday’s crash. Tomorrow, there are new chances and maybe a better arrival for Battaglin”, sports director Grischa Niermann said.
