Youngsters prepared in Limburg for rest of season

Floris De Tier, Daan Olivier, Antwan Tolhoek, Steven Lammertink and Koen Bouwman prepared last week for the coming months in Limburg. Hartthijs de Vries (SEG Cycling) and Logan Owen (Aexon Hagens Berman) joined them in their training.
Downhill rider Oscar Saiz taught them in his descending methods. They previewed the Amstel Gold Race and Liege-Bastogne-Liege courses. And the group visited food partner Daily Fresh Food and bakery De Bisschopsmolen.
“We did everything we had planned,” Head of Performance Mathieu Heijboer said. “Oscar’s training help was very useful. On the last day, we organised a time trial. The riders competed against each other as if it were a race. They forced each other to reach a higher level.”
The warm-weather training camp left a good impression on the five team riders. They stayed comfortably in three bungalows in Landal Hoog Vaals holiday park.
“I trained well for my next race, Vuelta al País Vasco,” Tolhoek said. “I think I’m in good shape.”
“The location was perfect,” Heijboer added. “The bungalows are ideally close to the Ardennes and the small climbs. We made breakfast ourselves and were a close-knit group. It makes the team stronger. Besides that, relaxed and had fun, one night we went bowling.”
In the summer, a part of the team travels to an altitude training in Küthei, Innsbruck. The Austrian state Tirol will host the 2018 UCI Road World Championships
